Review of The Quiet Man

The Quiet Man (1952)
1/10
I can decide which was more offensive.

Even with the understanding that this film was from a bygone era, I found the appalling treatment of women and the portrayal of Irish people as nothing but a bunch of brawling drunks completely offensive. That, the ridiculous plot and cheesy acting (actors randomly going in and out of their `brogues') made viewing this film nearly impossible. If you're interested in Irish culture and looking for an well-done, old film that well stands the test of time, try `Odd Man Out'.
