Best of the Besser episodes
9 May 2002
Now come on, Joe Besser was not a hideously bad stooge. Joe Besser had potential to be the third stooge, but he just did things his own way. He may not have the child-like, and charming vigor like Curly did, or have the charismatic wise-guy attitude like Shemp. Joe Besser could never hold a candle to Curly and Shemp, but he was still a pretty decent stooge even if he did act childish and touchy.

This one is a remake of the Curly episode, "Idiots Deluxe". The plot is almost the same, but has a bit of a western theme. Moe has a nervous breakdown after learning he's on the verge of bankruptcy and Larry and Joe suggest he take a trip to the woods with them. The funniest part was when Larry and Joe were making Moe's dinner and Larry shouts, "Spaghetti's ready" and screams because he saw a bear. Plus the part where Moe poured salt all over Joe's tongue. Also the scene about the sheriff getting a bandit was rather amusing, too.

As a matter of fact, Guns A Poppin' is my favorite Joe Besser episode. I actually like some episodes with Joe, and so does my brother and some other Stooge fans I know as well. Joe Besser may not have been the funniest stooge, but some of the episodes with him do deserve to be seen. The reason why Moe continued with the act is because Larry was a compulsive gambler who used to spend it like crazy, and they had to eat and pay their bills didn't they? In conclusion, feel free to check out Guns A Poppin'. Whether you like Joe Besser or hate him.
