Strong, moving and clever !
25 March 1999
This one really caught me by surprise. The plot is marvelous, the characters extremely well-drawn, and everything is strong enough to be suspenseful without relying on cheap effects. Chock-full of humanity, this is not politically correct stuff, nor a Midnight Express rip-off (I like this one better !). The idea of putting together two mirror-image character (One has everything to win through his ordeal, the other one everything to lose) is unforgettable. When you reach this level of gut-wrenching quality, one wonder halfway through : will the end be worth it ? AND the last minutes are even better than the movie itself.
