Review of One Heart Broken Into Song

I caught the second half of this film on Cable, and found it to be a quiet and sensitive portrayal of one of North America's least-known cultures. In the depression era (in which the film is set), the largest community of Black Canadians was in, of all places, western Nova Scotia. This is a Canadian made-for-TV film, and it will not blow the lid off anything---but the viewer accustomed to films about African Americans will see a quite different view of the culture. Every aspect of the film is at least competent, so watching is not a waste of time.
