Cindy (1978 TV Movie)

So Glad To Find Other People Who Adore CINDY!
20 December 2005
I remember this made for television movie and I actually recorded it on a BETA version VCR. I actually carted around that German-tank-sized BETA deck to my friends house so we could enjoy this gem. Unfortunately, my BETA machine and about 20 BETA tapes, including Cindy, got stolen. Like other I too have been trying to find Cindy ever since.

My most memorial character was the doorman -- a great study in "black mother wit."

I also loved Scooey Mitchell's famous line when going through the family's garbage can pulls out chicken bone with meat, and then says, "Don't folks know there's a war going on."

Finally, Cindy is the movie that I first saw and then feel in love with the late Nell Carter as a performer -- she is truly one Chicago's greatest musical products. I lived in Evanston at the time and had graduated from Northwestern and I was proud of any Chicago talent.

One friend said Cindy re-ran in recent years on the Disney Channel, but he did not record it. Come on Disney, please consider taking it out of your vault and make it available on DVD. IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO GET A COPY FOR ME -- I WOULD LOVE TO GET IT.
