Grease meets West Side Story!
3 February 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai star as Christian twins Max and Shirley, products of an affair between an Indian mother and a Portuguese father (who never accepted nor acknowledged them as his), Max grows up into a bitter, rebellious teen who fronts a gang on the A side of town, while Shirley blossoms into a beautiful and virtuous teen who never misses church services and finds it hard to hide her developing sexuality in the teensy weensy clothes the wardrobe department has her wearing. It's easy to see why Max is so insanely and sometimes uncomfortably protective of her. The Gang on the B side of town keep having run ins with the Gang on the A side of time but they have some sort of truce going which is that: nothing goes down until something goes down. Funny truce? Yeah. Until something actually goes down when the educated brother of the leader of Gang B comes to town and falls head over heels in love with Shirley. If you watch Bollywood films, or have seen West Side Story you know how this is going to go down, if not then sit back and enjoy the ride! There are some nice songs in this film and Shah Rukh and Aishwarya actually double as playback singers on some tracks.
