A great and Forgotten French Movie
18 February 2007
"Fanfare d'Amour", which is a wonderful and so funny movie, is a French movie, by French Director Richard Pottier, and with French actors Pierre Larquey, Fernand Gravey (well, Fernand Gravey is born in Belgium), Gaby Basset, Julien Carette, Madeleine Guitty and Ginette Leclerc. It was released in 1935. Later, a German version "Fanfaren der Liebe", directed by Kurt Hoffmann, was released in 1951. "Some like it Hot" by Billy Wilder, which received all the fame and the awards, is the third version, released in 1959. Excellent film, we all know that. I have seen "Fanfare d'Amour" in the fifties, when I was very young, and I still remember the laughs I had at that time, it was very, very funny, and yes, it would be very interesting to compare Fanfare d'Amour with "Some like it hot".
