* * May Contain Spoilers * * The story takes place in a small town in North Carolina, nearing the end of World War II. A mother, Ruby, and her daughter, Opal, are waiting until the day a husband and a father comes home. They haven't heard from him in three years, and deep down, a feeling has slowly crept into their hearts that he is dead.

One day, a mysterious man was found bitten severely by some neighbor's dogs, by Opal and he is forced to stay in their home. All they know is his name, Tom Walker, and that he is a drifter.

As the days go by, Tom helps them in their chores and they grow close. Opal, especially, develops a special connection with Tom and starts treating him like her father. Ruby, on the other hand, opens up to Tom and develops a slight affection for him.

This story is excellent and heart-warming. The actors portrayed their roles excellently, especially Alexa Vega and Sean Patrick Flanery, whose on-screen father-daughter chemistry really touched my heart.

I didn't like the ending though, but I know that it couldn't have been done any other way.
