excruciatingly unfunny
15 September 2007
While I do greatly admire The Golem, Nosferatu, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Night of the Living Dead, I wasn't troubled by the idea of a new film edited from them. I should have been!

There are simply no laughs in this tedious in-joke. Things your stoner friends might find hilarious aren't going to be even mildly amusing to someone who isn't a member of your circle and isn't high.

Other films such as Arise! The SubGenius Video and Tribulation 99: Alien Anomalies Under America make more interesting use of video sampling. Other films also make better use of the technique of comic dubbing, such as Night of the Day of the Dawn of the Son of the Bride of the Return of the Terror (which really *wasn't* all that funny), or Woody's Allen's What's Up, Tiger Lily?, which the filmmakers of this reference on their commentary track.
