This is one of the two movies directed by actor Charles Vanel who made more movies than any other actor I can think of in France .The second is "Dans La nuit" which was released at the end of the silent era. This one is a short (about 20 minutes) "Affaire Classée" is really a muddled affair;the plot is hardly comprehensible ;the fact that the hero (Charles Vanel himself ) is drunk throughout the whole movie does not help.A crime was committed ,it seems to be the owner of a café .The movie takes place at a fun fair where Vanel works with his pal (Pierre Larquey);then Vanel goes to the cafe where he meets the new owner who tells him his dad was shot. It's possible that some parts of the movie were lost as the years went by.
