Turkish introspection
1 May 2009
Although supposedly this is a movie about Turks and Greeks, if one watches it, it becomes very clear that it is a movie about the spectrum of attitudes that existed within Turkish society about the stance that should be followed towards the Greeks. The are no important Greek characters in the movie and the whole plot has to do with conflicts within Turkish society, character conflicts and portrayals of good and evil Turks. One Greek character exists that s the personification of what a respectable middle-class Turk would regard as disrespectable. The aesthetic elements of the movie are impressive and in the end an array of photographs from the events of September was so interesting that made the spectators watch the titles of the end.
