Mabel Normand and Roscoe Arbuckle visiting the Fair
11 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
MABEL AND FATTY VIEWING THE WORLD'S FAIR AT SAN FRANCISCO is a documentary reel, made with the design of promoting the respective Fair or of providing faraway citizens with an image of how that Fair looked, Mabel and Fatty being visitors to the Fair and in fact only a pretext to show tourist attractions which are nowadays curiosities.

If you wish to see a Jitney Bus Brigade, Hotel S. Francis (--huge, yeah, but as ugly as it gets--), the new City Hall, Rolph, an 'iron maiden', take a look at this promotional reel. Also, if you enjoy an occasional glimpse of Fatty being clumsy, etc.. He's slapped by Mabel for pushing her into the iron maiden. Otherwise, the reel is essentially vulgar and unhealthily enthralled by the instruments of torture on a prisoners' ship—sensationalism under the disguise of a compassionate denouncing of the methods used once upon a time. More for San Francisco or rather for torture methods fans.
