Good war movie, with a bit of "same old song" of soviet propaganda

Warning: Spoilers
From the technical and narrative point of view it's a great movie. The Russian cinematography is well known for well made war movies, but it suffers from blowing in the same old propaganda trumpet which makes this kind of productions hard to watch for people with better knowledge of WWII history. It's obvious that Brest became a symbol of heroic defense of June 1941, the same as the Westerplatte for Poland ( which by the way owned Brest until 1939 when Russian and German coalition invaded Poland from two sides - you can see the march of the war comrades in Brest here http://images30.fotosik.pl/278/652f866a336f6721.jpg ).

From the military point of view the defense of the keep was pointless, the main German forces just went around it after the fall of organized defense which broke after general 2 days assault on 28th & 29th June.

the rest of the fights was just a small pockets of defense held mostly by the members of 125th and 333rd infantry regiments which were mostly Ingush and Tchetchen soldiers - which fact is clearly omitted ( except for one armored car driver) because it does not fits post war and today propaganda .

the pictures of blood thirsty Germans using human shields is also pure soviet made up story, at least when it comes to this battle.

this are just two facts which underline my point - this is at the most good war movie, but it is no more true than " the dirty dozen" - so enjoy it remembering that the real battle was between two bad guys , from whom one rewrote the history to fit its todays purposes.

but as a movie - the good 7 or even 8 is given.
