Battle for Terra (I) (2007)

Best 5 bucks I've ever spent!

Warning: Spoilers
Pretty much a hybrid of WALL.E and James Cameron's Avatar but I still found it to be very good but I wouldn't call this a kids movie due to the serious tone of it. Plot: Earth is gone due to depleted resources. It's two colonies, Mars and Venus are also gone due to war. The remaining humans live in a space ship called The Ark, searching for a new home. The stumble on a nearly habitable planet called Terra which is inhabited by a peaceful species that has long given up weapons and have no need for war. The humans want to terraform the planet which would result in the death of the natives. It's up to a native girl named Mala(voiced by Evan Rachel Wood) and a human pilot(voiced by Luke Wilson) to stop this from happening and bring peace between the two races. What I liked about this movie was that humans are the invaders, not the aliens. It reminded me a lot of Avatar. The plot lines are similar, but I wont fault this movie for that because this movie came out 2 years before Avatar. Believe it or not, I actually found the characters to be more developed in this. A lot of good actors and actresses lend their voices such as Brian Cox, James Garner, Chris Evans, Danny Glover, Amanda Peet, David Cross, and Dennis Quaid. I'm surprised that that this movie didn't get more recognition because I enjoyed it. The animation, voice acting, and story are all really good. If I had known I would have enjoyed as much as I did, I would have paid more than 5 bucks for it.
