Sometimes, an old friend we worked with can trigger feelings of not having done as well as they, especially since we no longer are employed by that company, or have moved on to a different field. Take Claire. She used to have a promising career in the hotel industry. Having left to get married ended whatever she had built. Meeting Valerie for lunch was probably not a good idea. Valerie is now enjoying a fabulous career, but on the other hand, she is not married, or have a family.

Because of the nature of the business, Valerie has not one, but four boyfriends in different parts of the world. For all appearances she has achieved her goal and now she informs Claire she is is waiting an important phone call about a position she wanted. During the meal, she gets the nod to head the international division! Claire seems to be happy, but at the same time she wants to show her former colleague she has a life, so she invites Valerie to go to her home to meet her family.

Haley is quarreling with Dylan because he took someone else to a concert, which shocked her. She wants nothing to do with him. Phil, going to work, discovers his ad on one of the bus stops has been altered by drawing a mustache he does not have. Coming home he tries a glued one that imitates what he saw in the ad. Alex has been on a bottle collection quest to recycle for a worthy cause. She and Luke come home to discover a mouse on the carton where the bottles were stored. When the animal gets loose, she chases it all over with a broom. Dylan, blocks Phil from coming out of the portable toilet outside because the men working next door have turned off the water.

It is at this precise moment, when Claire arrives with Valerie. Claire wants to show her friend how well she has done for herself, but everything being chaotic, does not impressed the sophisticated Valerie. On the other hand, Claire is proud of her family.

Jay has finally agreed to play squash with Cameron, his gay son-in-law. As the two begin to change to get into the playing gear, Cam remarks about Jay's choice on boxer shorts. As the two sit on benches back to back, Cam bumps his butt against Jay's, which does not go well with the older man. At the court, Cam proceeds to beat his opponent, something that Jay does not appreciate. As Jay demands another match, he plays better and ends up beating his son-in-law.

Mitchell has come to help Gloria prepare for a case that involved a minor accident. Gloria is a terrible driver. Coming to the scene of the accident does not help her cause. Mitch is terrified of driving with her. Manny is also not impressed, something he tells Mitch. Gloria, throws a fit when Mitchell informs her she will not win her case. As she drives out of the fast food place where they have come to prepare for the case, Gloria knocks one of the big donuts that marks the exit.

Jason Winer shows why he is one of the best men working in television with this episode. Bill Wrubel wrote a funny screenplay where all the principals shine. There was that hilarious moment in which Jay and the swishy Cam must be in close proximity in the locker room, almost rubbing butts. Jay's idea of a locker room is suddenly compromised by being with a gay man for all his pals to watch. In addition, the conflict between Claire and Valerie plays well with all the commotion in the house.
