It's kind of hard to watch these Princess wedding documentaries . . .

. . . while being aware of all their subsequent fatal car crashes. Listening to the uncredited narrator prattle on and on about how safe and compact the teeny tiny village--Oops! Excuse me, Country--of Monaco is, the listener would think there could not be a safer place in the world. One would guess that royal residents would either die in bed, or during trips to "foreign lands" such as America. Viewing THE WEDDING IN MONACO, I wondered WHY they even had cars there at all. Why wasn't it like Michigan's Mackinac Island, Somewhere OUT of Time--carefully car-less--marching to its own chronological drummer, like, say, BRIGADOON? But yikes, there ARE cars threading the narrow cliff-side lanes in this 31-minute short, as illogical as it seemed in 1956. Eventually, Ms. Kelly died in an auto crash, right there in tiny Monaco. I saw all the PRINCESS DIARY movies, but I cannot remember scenes of Royal Driver's Ed. Given the sorry record of Princess demises in car crashes the past few decades, I think this should be moved to the top of their agendas--whether the Princess is born, or made!
