Not bad but nothing else

Warning: Spoilers
A rare and curious film. It seems like a crime movie, but it remains more a common drama than anything else. The lead character who escapes from prison at the beginning meets a curious fate here. He somehow becomes the bad guy of the movie towards the end, and Jean Gaven, who only arrives in the middle of the feature, becomes the real hero. Yes, an unusual scheme, and only that saves the film for me. A good atmosphere from South of France in the late fifties. It was a good thing that this vault gem was presented by DVD distributors.

The whole action takes place around Marseilles.

I don't know the director, Alfred Rode. Never heard of him.
