A number of things about this television drama do not make sense. Some twists were at times plain impossible. Despite the unlikely turn of events, however, this show is still worth watching. In fact, the impossible twists were at times a source of relief when I first watched this show. In some cases, they were even a source of hope. What those impossible twists were, I hope you'll discover it by watching this drama.
At the beginning, we're shown a very selfish and irresponsible teenage girl. While she is in no way endearing, she does embody the characteristics of a typical high school student: outgoing, ambitious, and even careless. The fate she meets because of her personality is in no way far-fetched since it did seem likely to happen, especially during a time when AIDS was still very rampant. Because of the ordeal she had to face, however, the audience sees her growth as a person. They see how this disease changes her by turning her into a mature individual through the numerous hardships she had to face.
At the very beginning of this drama, the audience is immediately taught an important lesson: prudence. We learn that all our actions have consequences. The lesson, however doesn't stop there. Time and time again, the audience is taught a number of valuable lessons as it follows the life of the female lead. The presentation of certain life lessons were subtly made yet they definitely made an impact, making the same very memorable.
While the story deals with a number of sexual themes, teenagers would benefit the most in watching this, especially when they're at an age when they are already making life-altering choices. I let my sister watch this knowing that she'll learn something from it and thinking that it's better for her to learn from the mistakes of a fictional character than to learn those lessons by herself when it's already too late.
It's an emotional yet hopeful story which would definitely be a beloved classic.
