Review of You Carry Me

You Carry Me (2015)
10/10
Really really good
29 June 2015
As a Croat, I wasn't really expecting much from the newest Croatian movie You Carry Me, as our filmmaking is rarely exciting and highly interesting. But after exiting the cinema, I was really surprised! The film is excellent, to say at least. It's thoughtful and engaging with highly intelligent directing done by Ivona Juka. The film brilliantly weaves three interconnected stories. Young girl Dora, whose father has returned after a time of absence, Ives, a TV director who spends most of the time caring about her demented father, and Nataša, pregnant woman who is faced with infidelity from her husband. Each story is complete, performances are brilliant and the flow of the film is extremely fluent. This multi-faced story will surely impress you. And don't be discouraged by the length of the movie - this is a modern Croatian masterpiece, and it's worth watching every second!
