Review of You Carry Me

You Carry Me (2015)
10/10
Art Pearl

I usually don't comment on other people reviews, because I believe everybody has a right to their opinion. Nevertheless, 2,5 hours „worst movie agony" is kind of exaggeration. „Ben Hur" last over 3,5 hours and you never hear people describing it as a „long movie". Personally, I do not judge the movies by length, but by quality. Would you decide not to read a book only because it has 100+ pages? I suppose not. I wouldn't. Some stories take longer and some movies take longer. And I consider this one to be an art pearl. Not only within Croatian cinematography. As for the acting, although the main actor is actually not and actor, he portrayed the character very well. You might see in some scenes he is a bit stiff, but that can be attributed to the role he is playing. You don't expect a tattooed ex-criminal to go all „mushy" (not that I have prejudices on tattooed people, more on criminals). He is a great cast for the role. Now that I think about it, I cannot think of some other Croatian actor I would choose for the role. I agreed that we have all seen similar stories, but the human relations is a topic you cannot surpass and in a hundred years you will still have similar topics, and the people will still want to see movies like that. I find the movie excellent, something quite new in our cinematography.
