Umshini Wam (2011)
4/10
Very Korine, but not very good

Warning: Spoilers
"Umshini Wam" is a 15-minute short film written and directed by Harmony Korine 4 years ago. If you have seen Korine's very famous "Spring Breakers", you may see some parallels here, like the permanent switching between longing for harmony and gunfire or also the extensive use of the colors pink and yellow. I must say I quite enjoyed "Spring breakers" for the most part, but this short film here isn't working for me really. There are no very memorable moments or quotes in here and it all seems a bit undefined I think. It's not completely bad by any means and the two lead actors are decent, but there never was a moment in this film when I thought: "Wow. This is really worth a watch." Not recommended. The only reason I could think of to watch it is that it's pretty unique and quite odd, but other than that thumbs down.
