An under-appreciated gem!

While shows like "Steven Universe" are more popular on Cartoon Network, I find this to be better. It's mostly because everything is just so wonderful to look at. Having thousands of reviews on Newgrounds, this seems just like something from that website. It's still wonderful in its own right. You get 2-D animation, CGI, claymation and live action all in one gorgeous package! The characters may have the best designs I have ever seen. Next to MLP, this has the best animation of any show I've ever seen in my life! There is just so much movement with these character models.

The characters may have the most distinct designs of any cartoon characters. It's not just that they're animated differently, it's that almost none of these characters are the same king of thing! I could just go on long listing all the different objects these characters are! I really am starting to wonder if the writers just looked around their rooms when thinking of ideas. It's the best British cartoon I've ever seen. It is still pretty Americanized.

Besides all these gorgeous visuals, the characters are amazing. I love how these kids all act like real kids! I mean, they get jealous, they have crushes, they get arrogant, they get into trouble. As bizarre as this show is in the strictest sense, it's actually done in a realistic manner. It reminds me of when the writer of "Regular Show" say that you would never know that these characters were talking things because he wanted to do an authentic story about a group of friends hanging out. I think Gumball set some record for the shortest time to get a really popular model on the MUGEN game. Yeah, look it up! All of these characters are so hilarious.

I love how there are certain episodes that mock various tropes. "The Void" makes fun of Chuck Cunningham Syndrome and "The End" makes fun of Negative Continuity. My favorite episode is "The Safety" as it's just nothing but a massive mocking of cartoon censorship. Apart from being hilarious from the get go, it really shows what kinds of stuff kids are exposed to and how we're overprotective of them. Penny was frequently depicted in fanart as a deer, but when she wasn't, they still made it wonderful.

I really think that scene in "The Shell" where Gumball confesses his love to her is one of the most heartwarming things I've ever seen in a cartoon. He just says, "That's not who you are, that's just how you feel" and kisses her in a magic embrace. If only Dipper did that with Pacifica! All of these characters have their flaws and crazy moments, but they still come off as so real and likable even in this insane environment.

Thank you Ben, for having Gumball being the only modern cartoon character that's in a steady relationship! I love this couple also because Gumball accidentally hurts Penny like giving her food she's allergic to, twice. Don't see Finn doing that. You have no idea whatsoever will happen on the next episode. While the show's exploits are amazingly wacky, it still gives us great and endearing characters. Please watch this! 10/10!
