The real state with less parody than you thought

The backbone of this TV series consists of following intertwined lives of numerous characters who are trying to survive and adjust, surrounded by corruption, malversation and bribery. "Bela ladja" shows vicious cycle in which the society is stuck and attracts attention on the wrong and fraudulent system.

As the series itself is concerned to be an extension of the movies "Tesna koza". Although socialism and workers' self-management was replaced by capitalism, the problems remained. Gutovic's huge performance of a corrupt politician Srecko Sojic, who came from the countryside into the capital and vigorously tries to get his hands on high function without asking for price, deserves an Oscar. The quality of the series has notably decreased after Gutovic left the cast.

As for the other roles, Petar Kralj draws attention with his superb acting. He plays a disempowered worker who financially supports family in his old days with miserable incomes. Next to him, there are still a lot of colorful characters such as: Blasko, an unemployed young man with a short temper who lives on the backs of his parents; Marinko, who got divorced and have two sons to support by himself; Ozren and Alamunja, criminal and gangster who manage other's lives and command the politicians out of shadow; Roska, a pythoness from which chief politicians ask for help...

In my opinion, "Bela ladja" is highly underrated series. The script is powerful, actors did their job great and the production was quite good considering the low budget. It has predicted many events that took place in Serbia in past few years. Unfortunately, I think it would not be such interesting to someone who is not related and familiar with Serbian mentality and events.
