Quite touching

Warning: Spoilers
By no means a masterpiece this short from a young Akerman is quite good and already shows the innovation and talent she would display with her feature films. Akerman (taking multiple duties here as director, writer and star), plays a young girl with almost maniacal energy. She bounds from the outside into her small apartment where she performs various domestic tasks with disturbing exuberance spurred on by the soundtrack which consists of increasingly swift humming.

But in addition to domestic tasks the girl also begins to engage in slightly sinister acts, like taping up her doorway.

To spoil the end, in which the girl, exhausted, turns the gas all the way up and waits for the end to come, is actually incredibly sad. Akerman killed herself in 2015 at the age of 65. It's hard not to wonder if already at this tender age the shadow of depression hadn't found her.
