An impressive drama, well executed and photographed. It is one of the last pictures made by Herbert Brenon before going abroad. William Shay has the character of the son, grown to manhood, and Jane Fearnley, that of the mother. Both do excellent work, as in fact may be said of the entire cast. William Welch, who portrays the Savior, is especially effective in the final scene. His characterization is reverential; the effect is heightened by his craftsmanlike makeup, in which, by the way, Mr. Welch is unusually efficient.
