Me, Myself and I (2017–2018)
4/10
Not funny or interesting
5 October 2017
I'm a big fan of "high concept" TV, so a series that tells a man's life story through three different periods is inherently interesting to me. But then, I also like my comedies to be funny, which is a big issue with Me, Myself and I.

In the pilot we see the protagonist Alex at three major life changes. As a kid his mom remarries, in his 40s he gets a divorce, and when he's old he retires.

None of these guys are all that interesting, nor do they look like they're from the same family, much less the same person. In the pilot the three parts are not connected that well, so that there's no real sense of why the story is told as it is.

But mainly, I just didn't laugh. None of these manages to be more than mildly, very occasionally, amusing.

One final objection. In the old age part, Alex meets a female classmate from elementary school. So they're the same age. But the actress is 16 years younger than the actor, and looks every bit of it. It's not atypical of Hollywood, but then, that's the thing about this series. In spite of the attempt at some ingenuity, this is just another unfunny and predictable Hollywood sitcom.
