This is an episode in which the acting really makes up for the shortcomings. The Nick/Lindsay romance tends to feel like kind of a drag, but it's what Segal and Cardellini do with it that matters. Put simply, it's not a good day for either character.
It's not a great time for Sam either, assuming the school mascot routine in his continuing quest for Cindy. That dichotomy between siblings makes things interesting; but overall, it's a mixed blessing of an episode.
Really, it's only Neal who has a happy ending here, getting the last laugh as the Norseman. And his scenes with Bill throughout are the true highlight.
7/10
