Adam in the mirror

Warning: Spoilers
"Adam: The Mirror" is a Canadian English-language short film from this year (2017) that racked up millions of views since 2.5 months ago when it was released on Youtube. The director and also one of the writers is South African Neill Blomkamp and this is one of several short films that he recently worked on with his new production company Oats Studios. But it is not among the best I guess. This one's fully animated and feature Blomkamp regular Jason Cope in the role of the title character. There is really nothing wrong with the visual side here, even if this is probably a movie that won't get too much awards recognition, if any at all. However, the story aspect did not impress me. It could have worked as part of a full feature film, but as a standalone film, I cannot say I am convinced here sadly. It may have partially to do with my Sci-Fi bias, but not entirely. Story is king and the looks are just on a level where they are okay, but cannot make up for flaws otherwise. I see recently a sequel came out, but judging from this one here I am not too interested in seeing that one. I give it a thumbs-down. Not recommended.
