Warning: Spoilers
This movie can't be fully understood without having a substantial amount of background information. It may even require you to be extremely knowledgeable about some traditional concepts in Turkey. I can say that it is not the best film in terms of acting but its portrayal of different types of people in the army. Also before commenting on the amateur mistakes these soldiers make on the field you have to know that there is mandatory military service for all men. This service usually takes 9 to 12 months and only the first month of it is training. So these people are not trained professional soldiers. They are just regular guys in military equipment. When looking at things from this point of view all of it makes sense. Also the movie portrays how 2 people of very different backgrounds act under harsh circumstances. Oguz being the more elite educated one and Bekir being the more rash and humble one, they don't like eachother however they are forced to work together. Which is almost a perfect display of what happens between the soldiers in the Turkish army. Also for those who do not know the names at the end mean, they are the names of all the soldiers who reached martyrdom due to the terrorist organization PKK. All in all it is by far one of the best movies I have ever seen for its ultra realistic portrayal of events.
