Won't turn you into a resident

Warning: Spoilers
"Resident Evil: The Nightmare of Dante" is a 14-minute live action short film from France that is in the English language however. But in fact the language doesn't really matter as you don#t need to be able to understand a single word if you want to enjoy this movie and instead you simply focus on action and stunts. These are the two dominant components from start to finish. Director Gatinaud and writer Abrikh (also plays the central character) have both worked in all kinds of fields in the movie making process, but their most prolific is the stunt department where they even worked on some pretty famous Hollywood movies. So the looks of this short here should not come as a surprise to anybody. However, I as somebody with virtually no connection to Resident Evil must say that the story department is more important to me and it was a really underwhelming watch from this perspective. Also another problem here is that you probably need to know (and appreciate) RE to really appreciate this fan-made film we got here. On the contrary, you can for example watch the newest Avengers film and enjoy the hell out of it without having seen a single older Marvel movie. This is impossible here and great writing does not result from a great budget, so money should not be an excuse. Overall, the characters' behavior also feels a bit strange at times, like the fellow trying to fiix his gun in the face of a physically superior antagonist and why won't he run away, but just lets himself catch like this. And that was only one scene. I think you should skip the watch here. the forest as location for all the action was solid and sometimes the film does not look too bad either in terms of effects. But it is never an intriguing watch. Go for something else instead.
