My wife and I both like the Phryne series. We enjoy the period costumes and the mysteries each week as well as the characters themselves. Having said that, I still cannot get past the problem that Phryne's promiscuity is sold as something to admire. It may reflect much of society today, but that does not make it admirable.
We continue to watch the series because we enjoy so many things in this period piece, so we just do our best to ignore the sad sexual escapades.
