Although this episode is by no means perfect, it did bring back some of the classic Modern Family humor. One thing the episodes in the past couple of seasons have been missing is the classic humor driven by misunderstandings and miscommunications between characters which often leads to very funny and awkward situation humor which became a sort of standard for the show. One thing I do wish they would change is that they make better use of the character pairings as it feels as if in the last few seasons, Mitchell is always paired with Cam, Claire with Phil, and Jay with Gloria. I feel many of these characters can be funnier when they are paired with other family members. For example, I feel that the pairing of Jay with Phil and Gloria with Claire bring out some of the best moments in the show. I, as a longtime fan, would just like to see a little more variety while trying to best utilize these characters. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, Modern Family, started as a show focusing more on the parents and adults in the family as they try to do their best in raising their kids. I am sorry, but I do not find any of the kids remotely entertaining as of lately. Hope the show continues to improve.
