Detonator II: Night Watch (1995 TV Movie)

NIGHT WATCH is a cheap TV movie thriller, based on the novels of Alistair Maclean, and starring Pierce Brosnan hot on the heels of his GOLDENEYE Bond debut. He's playing the anti-Bond here, a slick, comedic character with long hair and a 'tache, often bumbling his way through the fight and dialogue sequences. The world-hopping plot sees Brosnan and his allies on the trail of a stolen Rembrandt painting, a search that takes them all around the world. There's some fun action on the canals of Amsterdam which recalls PUPPET ON A CHAIN a little, but this is very much average viewing, not helped by cringe-inducing comedy innuendo between Brosnan and Alexandra Paul. William Devane is entirely wasted in support.
