Something different from Winner...

Warning: Spoilers
THE GAMES is a different beast entirely from Michael Winner, made just before he began his career of making ultra-violent revenge movies. This one's based on a novel that explores the lives and motivations of four marathon runners of different nationalities competing in the 1968 Rome Olympics. Time is taken to explore the social and political lives of those involved, with unrest and racism coming to the fold; it's certainly an interesting snapshot of the era, if not perhaps the most exciting film out there. The presence of future great Michael Crawford and established old-timer Stanley Baker makes this engaging for British viewers.
