Warning: Spoilers
Well a 80's version of the Twilight Zone. Even more a cable version of the Twilight Zone. The Hitchhiker is like a freeze dry moment for the 80's; before the boomers took over with social justice T V. Audience just wanted to be entertained, so the old T W Z 50's series social messages where toned down. Instead of Rod we had The Hitchhiker narrator who was inspired by the Stallone look from First Blood to introduce each story. Being on cable/H B O of the 80's was much whiter suburban cast which reflected the 80's M T V style of big hair, new wave, Heavy metal look. The casts look like people from beer commercials. Blue lighting, Miami Vice clothing style with studs, and vixens turning the heat up in a soap opera/rock video style version the T W Z. The Hitchhiker's stories, some actually good, some just stupid, other you said W T F varied! Many story lines where revenge oriented, the person gets into trouble. Other stories the person has affairs, cheats etc. Others the cursed item got someone into trouble. While others the person innocently steps into some problem. The formulated writing actually showed how good the episode was. Mostly The Hitchhiker's many a story was and excuse for nudity and sex and the audience anticipation for seen such! 7 out of 10 entertain, but a more sexed up version of the Twilight Zone.
