The arrival of a rich fille de joie causes debauchery in a city in Italy. People stop worshipping God n flock around her proclaiming her to be a pagan god of love. This causes furore among the cardinals. The ruler of the city is murdered by his own son as they both fall madly in love with her. Lust and excess overtake the city. Even an eremite is overcome by her beauty n he commits sacrilegious acts. Soon the curse falls on the city.

I saw this film for the first time recently. The direction, music n acting is commendable considering the era it was made but the film is laden with religious tones. It is a bit long for a silent film. Watch out for the high priest's toothless facial expressions.
