Family Guy: The Big Bang Theory (2011)
Season 9, Episode 16
6/10
It was a cool episode...but not something I want to see again.

Warning: Spoilers
I always hate these "causality loop" plots because it implies that stuff in the past wouldn't happen if one never invented time travel and did all the things they did. In this case, Stewie and Brian created the universe because Stewie was going back in time to embarrass Brian, and them fighting over the controls on Stewie's time machine panel sent them back in time to when there was no universe and they created the big bang, which I guess makes Stewie God and makes Brian Art Garfunkel. Which means the universe could also disappear if Stewie that day wasn't going back in time to embarrass Brian and they pushed too many buttons on Stewie's time machine. For all we know, they could cause another Big Bang and create another universe all over again.

I might be in the minority for saying this, but I would have liked the plot of Betram trying to kill Stewie's ancestor a lot more without the first half-plot of Stewie creating the universe. Much of that is because Betram wouldn't remove himself and everyone else in the universe otherwise if he was going to erase an ancestor of Stewie that wasn't on Peter's side so Betram himself could still exist, and even though Betram himself said it would be worth it to wipe out the universe's existence, that also makes it pointless for Betram to remove Stewie's ancestor that isn't one of his own if he also can't exist. The Big Bang Theory's writing can't really seem to make up its mind since after Betram killed Leonardo DaVinci later on, since the space-time continuum still gives Stewie a chance to do something he will do to make sure he is born and still exist to create the Big Bang of the universe. Then again, Stewie's importance to creating the universe in this episode was probably intentionally ignored in Chap Stewie when the universe still existed after Stewie erased himself from existence and was born into a new family and didn't create the big bang again.

At this point, it wouldn't surprise me if Betram came back from the dead and The Big Bang Theory never happened and Stewie or Brian had to kill Betram again. I'm just glad that this wasn't another Road to episode with time travel like Road to Germany, since the Betram plot only started halfway through the episode and Stewie said to Brian "Just so you know, this does not count as our trip to Italy." They both have Brian and Stewie on a time-travel mission to go to the past in a European country and have the rest of the Griffin family only appear at the beginning. I will give this episode many stars for its excellent animation in some areas, but not a full 10 because I am kind of scared of talking about this episode.
