Scandalous in 1973 (it got an X rating), today it wouldn't raise much of an eyebrow (it would be a soft R). Dramatically it's flawed - stagnant and superficial. But it retains some of its morbid curiosity value, especially as you get to watch a top-shelf European cast engage in uncommonly (and, in some cases, extraordinarily) crude material.
