Was Probably A Masterpiece Before....

Warning: Spoilers
Before all the studio-forced cuts to the finished film, based upon opinions by some moronic test audience who thought it was "too disturbing..." I always wondered why this very well made film completely deleted the fact that brother and sister become lovers, which was the very thing that made the books so intense and creepy. After discovering that those scenes actually were filmed, and later discarded, it all makes sense. "Flowers In the Attic" is a beautifully wrought, atmospheric Southern Gothic epic, but with the heart and soul cut out. I am sure the Legions of fans of this cult phenomenon would give anything for one of those "director's cuts" of "Flowers In the Attic." If nothing else, that would give the director the opportunity to finally present his original vision to the world. As it stands, this is still a very watchable movie, but it's a difficult watch, knowing that it was once, so much more, before it's deconstruction..
