Beware the beat of the cloth wrapped feet

Archaeologists discover the final resting place of an Egyptian boy king and exhibit his remains in a museum, but the Mummy of his loyal slave named Prem returns to life to discharge a violent retribution on the defilers , and an ancient curse that surrounds the tomb begins to come true. This Hammer production isn't one of the studios best, and the whole thing feels rushed together, but it is pretty violent for the time and has a pretty high body count as the Mummy murders the explorers one by one, until one of them discovers the ancient words that have the power to reduce the brutal killer to particles of dust. The great ensemble cast includes André Morell, John Phillips, Maggie Kimberly, Elizabeth Sellars and Michael Ripper. Catherine Lacey is brilliant in her role as Haiti, a grizzled Romany clairvoyant with a voodoo-esque name who cheerfully predicts the deaths of others with the aid of a crystal ball. Stuntman Eddie Powell who was Christopher Lee's regular stunt double plays the Mummy, the last in the Hammer series to be swathed in bandages. It was the final Hammer production to be made at Bray Studios, before its productions moved to Elstree Studios and occasionally Pinewood.
