"Life stinks" tells the story of a rich businessman who, in order to gain ownership over a piece of land, agrees into a bet that makes him live under the poor inhabitants of named quarter for a certain amount of time, questioning many things that he thought to be very clear.
The story reminds a lot of "The Ghost of Christmas Past" and is pretty much similar. What is added here is a good sense of humor and a more modern approach. Generally though, the film stays quite predictable. However it is not too hard to emphasize with the characters and the message surely hasn't lost a bit of its value.
All in all this is not a top title and you can argue, whether it was necessary to tell this old tale in a new form, but if you set this discussion aside, you get a solid film for a solid one-time view.
