The Flying Nun (1967–1970)

Delightful - too bad that Sally Field couldn't see the worth in that

I heard that they immediately regretted canceling "Gidget" and rather than just a chagrined back pedaling that they then instead created "The Flying Nun." They would have been far better served doing "Gidget" again. I could be wrong on that. I didn't think ti was that bad. It was a heck of a lot better than "Beverly Hillbillies" which I loved at the time, but in retrospect makes not sense. "Gidget' really isn't all that hard to suspend reality and in a delightful weird sort of way believe. Sally Field is so delightful - in "Gidget" and in "The Flying Nun" that it's not that hard to believe that nuns really can fly. Too bad that Sally Field couldn't see the value in it. The fact though that she could still be professional in spite of not caring for the show shows a lot about her and her integrity.
