Project Blue Book: Operation Mainbrace (2020)
Season 2, Episode 10
10/10
Easily the most monumental episode that goes all out with dynamic intensity, high stakes, and mind blowing cliffhangers.

Well here we are already after another 10 awesome episodes and I must say this show is just getting started. While I do still believe William's character and subplot (aside from episode 5) was tragically underutilized they set something up so big at the end of this episode that it somehow makes up for that nitpick.

This episode was just so intense and pulled no punches with the fast pace, dynamic scale, and the overall stakes. It was great to see certain things tied together and touched on even if it was briefly it gave some good explanation. The tie ins at the end will have people blown away beyond belief. You will be wanting Season 3 within a week!

When thinking of this season as a whole, I really did appreciate most of the various episodes other than Hopkinsville (which I thought didn't amount to really anything). I thought they executed them all very well story/acting wise though at times things were kind of glossed over especially in the Still terrific Area 51 episode, as well as the interesting yet scattered Close encounters episode. There seems to be a constant tease of contact with aliens or maybe showing them even and we never get that which is my major nitpick of the show. Another thing I do commend them on as well is the trimming of the Susie /Mimi subplots which many people including myself weren't insanely fond of last season and how much time they spent on them . They gave them the necessary time needed for their subplots to the point where we still got the meat of the story with HyNek and Quinn.

Otherwise this seasons various characters especially the addition of Kennedy are absolutely supreme and GILLEN/MALARKEY have become easily the best duo in my opinion since Mulder and Scully which makes perfect sense. I'm also very happy that it looks like Ian Tracy will be featured way more in season 3. His character made season one slightly better than season two in my opinion because it added such a mysterious enigmatic tone to the show. The production value was absolutely top-notch and you could tell they had a bigger budget to work with in season two and I can only imagine what they could get to work with in season three.

Overall this has become my favorite show and I cannot wait to see what they do in the future. At times I'm surprised this is on basic cable TV because the quality is that high. I would always question how The X-Files was on Fox because of that very high quality factor as well. It's no wonder that blue book gets compared to X-Files as much as it does. This is a show that needs to keep going And I think the fan base it's just starting to grow.
