Sidney Poitier's Return to Acting is a Horribly Underrated Gem
11 April 2020
One of my favorites, this forgotten 80s gem is a very memorable and entertaining thriller. It has the distinguished honor of being Sidney Poitier's first film following a 20 year absence from acting, and he is at the top of his game.

Poitier and Tom Berenger actually have some good chemistry, and the movie is partly a buddy cop film, so they make it work, with a believable relationship gradually developing between their characters. I know it's a super old movie, but I still don't wanna give away who the villain is, so I'll just say that the villain was great.

There are lots of taut moments in this solid thriller, from the tense opening scene, to the intense wilderness pursuits and brushes with death, and the final foot chase/shootout was very well done. Definitely a slick climax worth the build.

This film made me a huge Poitier fan, and it's one of Berenger's better performances. Definitely check this movie out, it needs some more attention.
