It's kind of surprising how many movies from a supposed age of propriety focused on marital infidelity and illicit liaisons. In this one from French female pioneer Alice Guy-Blaché a maid hides her soldier lover in a cupboard to avoid discovery only for another secret tryst to be uncovered as a result. A film shot in proscenium style that would have benefited from some close-up reaction shots.
