Carnivàle (2003–2005)
10/10
10 starts. Totally underrated & Before it's time.

Firstly, I am way late to the party; as I am only now finding out about this truly hypnotic gem of a show during the coronavirus pandemic, shelter at home, situation we have going on currently in the US, as well as worldwide. I was so happy to read all of the positive reviews that it may be a waste of my time, and yours, to add any additional input, seeing as I don't have any new keen observations, (that haven't already been mentioned). I just wanted to say thank you to all the previous reviews. You are all absolutely spot on. The reviewers before me have already explored every inch of this show, and what makes it so incredibly special. I guess I just wanted to add that it's now 2020, and to this day, I don't think HBO has ever come close to topping it, maybe with 'The Leftovers' coming in a close 2nd? I have fallen so deeply in love with the show, and I'm absolutely shocked and disappointed to learn it was only granted two seasons. Like all the other reviewer's before me, I'm more than happy to take part in any petitions that may still be out there to grant this show the full 6 seasons it so rightly deserves. I mean, they did bring back Twin Peaks, so maybe there is still hope? However, like a few others have pointed out, it is entirely possible that it is better left as is, and to see it go down In history as the being the precious, little hidden gem of a show that it is today. I'm on the fence about that, but regardless of what happens, please don't do yourself the disservice of passing up the opportunity to dive headfirst into this absolutely wonderful show. By far the easiest 10 stars I've ever given a show on IMDB. I don't know what I, or the rest of humanity, was doing in 2003-2005, but geez if there was ever a show to be applauded, dissected, and devoured it's this one. Like I said, It's 2020, and it's just as magical now, as I imagine it was back then. Obviously, it has aged very well. It's a shame the viewership wasn't up to par at the time, giving HBO the gall to cut it short at only two seasons, but man, what a show indeed.
