I was very surprised by this film. Everything felt natural and it made me feel I was part of this isolated community. It made me envy their simpler way of life. Many of us have been in the position of staying true to our convictions and getting shunned for it.
My only complain was the subtitles. With the English subtitles I had available, I felt I was getting lost in translation. Since most of the film is in Bambara, I understand the difficulty to make subs for a wider international audience. However, I feel I could understand what the characters were trying to express and the subtitle going for a more "general" word instead.
Other than that the film it's worth its run time.
