Review of Red Corner

Red Corner (1997)
7/10
Decent courtroom story set in the People's Republic of China
3 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It so happens I caught this flick today on one of the pay channels. It really is an entertaining flick. Flawed in parts...a bit hokey in parts....but still entertaining.

Richard Gere is framed in China and must beat the system to not be executed. How can he win over the government officials as well as a his lawyer and prove his innocence?

The film is well made and well acted. The story line falls down in parts...especially at the end...but the writers have boxed themselves in and have no choice but to pull some chicanery at the end to resolve the story.

The film at least works to develop the characters versus the vast majority of what is produced nowadays.
