Modern Family: Kiss and Tell (2018)
Season 10, Episode 2
9/10
Best episode in a while
6 August 2020
Modern Family hasn't been great since season 7. That season had some really great episodes and at the same some of the worst episodes of the whole show, but overall it wasn't that bad, it never failed to make me laugh. Season 8 had more downs than ups but it definitely had it's moments as well, but the show wasn't the same that it was a couple of seasons ago. Then season 9 came in and it has been the worst so far, at one point i was asking myself why i kept watching, so many missed opportunities and boring episodes ruined it for me and many other people as well.

This episode doesn't deserve a 9, at best it's a great average episode of the earlier seasons, but this episode it's a huge improvement of the past seasons. Maybe it's because these are the first episodes of the season and, in my opinion, the best moments and episodes of the last 3 seasons are at the beginning of each season. Maybe it's because the writers are excited to get back to write for this show, but because they have been doing it for a long time they started to get bored after several episodes and just start writing to first thing that comes on their head without giving it too much thought. Or maybe because they thought this was the last season they decided to put their best, either way, i'm glad we got this episode.

This episode proved me that no matter how many seasons have passed, they still have the opportunities and ability to make great and funny episodes. For a while i've been thinking that it would've been better for the show if they decided to put a little more of focus to Manny, Luke, and Alex. Pretty much every episode that they had a bit more focus on them, that episode stand out in my opinion. For the earlier seasons the protagonists were the main couple, and with good reasons, there weren't many stories to tell with a couple of kids, except for the few jokes and lines they had. But now they have grown up and there are many stories that they can tell with them and start putting the main couple on a more secondary role, not for every episode, but at least for some of them. We spent years where pretty much every storyline and every episode the main couples were the protagonist, but now they are running out of ideas for stories to tell with them and it's time to move on to give the younger character more protagonism.

I'm sorry i know i said "seasons" too many times
