I don't generally enjoy war movies, but this one was different. It has something so universal about it, it speaks so simply and openly of our humanity, our conscience and our history as a race, that it pulled me in from the beginning.
What made me stay though was Denzel Washington's performance. It was excellent in every way: deep, grasping, powerful and moving to the core. I was in awe of him - he was impeccable in every scene and made the movie shine, gave it the strength, the oomph it needed to be a memorable piece.
